We're here to make your pet a climate superhero.

Our mission

We’re on a mission to make every dog and cat a climate superhero. We help pet owners reduce the carbon pawprint of their animal companions to live a more sustainable life, together.

Our story

Perhaps like us, you’ve noticed that more and more of us are welcoming cats and dogs into our lives. Just like you, we treasure the relationship and special bonds we share with our animal companions. But this also got us thinking: what role do our four-legged friends play in the climate crisis?

Well, it turns out, it’s a big one! The 1.5 billion dogs and cats that have now joined our homes globally increase each of our carbon footprints by up to 10%. Combined, they produce over 1 billion tonnes of C02 emissions every year, equivalent to 2.5x the C02 emissions of the United Kingdom. And that figure is only set to grow.

So, what is climate pets? If, like us, you think our dogs and cats deserve to be part of the solution to climate change, then consider joining us here at Climate Pets. Let’s make every dog and cat a climate superhero!

For planet, people and pets

At Climate Pets, we’re committed to helping build a sustainable future for everyone. To this end, we align our work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDGs 11, 12, 13 and 15. What’s more, many of the Climate Projects we support through our carbon offsetting programmes support other SDGs from Gender Equality Empowerment (SDG 5) to Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3).

Your questions, answered

What is Climate Pets?

What is Climate Pets, you ask? Climate Pets is the world’s first community of climate positive pets. A community-driven platform that shares effective ways to reduce and offset the carbon ‘pawprint’ of our four-legged friends. Climate Pets is an initiative from the community interest company Global Solidarity Foundation.

What do you mean by 'carbon pawprint'

The carbon pawprint is the amount of tCO2e (tonnes of CO2 equivalent) produced over the period of one year by a dog or a cat, much like a human’s carbon footprint.

What does Climate Pets do to protect planet, people and pets?

At Climate Pets, we take climate change very seriously. That’s why we choose our carbon offsetting projects as carefully as possible to guarantee the highest possible standards.

What’s more, as a company, we are constantly trying to reduce our own carbon emissions. Our team primarily keep to a plant-based diet, don’t fly, and we offset our remaining emissions – including those of our dogs and cats! Whenever possible, we additionally support charities for animals, the planet or the community, and our tree planting adds even more value to the planet.
